A vulnerability in Cisco Catalyst Center could allow an authenticated, remote attacker to execute operations that should require Administrator privileges. The attacker would need valid read-only user credentials. This vulnerability is due to improper role-based access control (RBAC). An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by logging in to an affected system and modifying certain policy configurations. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to modify policy configurations that are reserved for the Administrator role. To exploit this vulnerability, the attacker must have valid credentials for a user account with at least the role of Observer.

An overly-permissive IAM trust policy in the Harmonix on AWS framework may allow IAM principals in the same AWS account to escalate privileges via role assumption. The sample code for the EKS environment provisioning role is configured to trust the account root principal, which may enable any IAM principal in the same AWS account with sts:AssumeRole permissions to assume the role with administrative privileges. We recommend customers upgrade to Harmonix on AWS v0.4.2 or later if you have deployed the framework using versions v0.3.0 through v0.4.1.

OpenBao is an open source identity-based secrets management system. Prior to version 2.4.4, a privileged operator could use the identity group subsystem to add a root policy to a group identity group, escalating their or another user's permissions in the system. Specifically this is an issue when: an operator in the root namespace has access to identity/groups endpoints and an operator does not have policy access. Otherwise, an operator with policy access could create or modify an existing policy to grant root-equivalent permissions through the sudo capability. This issue has been patched in version 2.4.4.

Minio is a Multi-Cloud Object Storage framework. Prior to RELEASE.2023-03-20T20-16-18Z, an attacker can use crafted requests to bypass metadata bucket name checking and put an object into any bucket while processing `PostPolicyBucket`. To carry out this attack, the attacker requires credentials with `arn:aws:s3:::*` permission, as well as enabled Console API access. This issue has been patched in RELEASE.2023-03-20T20-16-18Z. As a workaround, enable browser API access and turn off `MINIO_BROWSER=off`.
